English LANGUAGE support

Students from overseas are helped by the Friends to improve their English which helps with their studies and exams.

STUDENT COOKING SKILLS

The Friends provide recipes and help students develop cooking skills so they can cook delicious meals at a very reasonable cost

Student MOTIVATION

High personal and / or team contributions incentivised and recognised via an annual Friends Award

STUDENT INFORMATION

During Induction and Freshers Week and also at other times, the Friends provide a warm welcome to new students and give advice on how the Friends and others can support them whilst at university.

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT

Twice a week the Friends hold ‘Coffee and Chat’ sessions for students. The talks are on any subject the students wish to raise.

BRITISH CULTURE SUPPORT

The Friends provide support to help staff deliver British Culture modules to oversease students and in some cases have provided ‘living history’ talks

CREATURE INTERACTION

Twice a year the Friends arrange for a mobile zoo to visit the university. The visits are extremely popular with the students and help students de-stress ahead of exams.

The bonding with a horse through grooming and more is known to be theraputic and beneficial to hard-working students.
